Do I need to come in person ?
Starting from 07 April 2021, long-stay study visa applicants can submit the documents accompanying their applications digitally. You can find more information about this procedure on France-Visas
All visas issued by France are biometric visas. If you hold a biometric Schengen visa issued within 59 months, either bearing the mention ‘VIS’ or issued after March 2016, your previous biometric data can be reused. In that case, you can authorize a third-party to submit your application on your behalf. For that purpose, you must sign a proxy form, to be handed over with a copy of the applicant’s proof of ID.
Children under 12 are exempted from data capturing. Parents can submit visa applications for their children under 12 or aged 12-18 if exempted from biometrics, without the children’s presence and without using a proxy form.
Section 17 of the Community code visas
Under section 17 of the Community code visas: “the state or states concerned shall maintain the opportunity for all applicants to lodge applications directly from their consulates, according to their conditions”.
